The Basics:

Research Clinics are librarian-facilitated workshops which are held outside of class time (like homework). They are offered during weeks 6 through 11 of the semester. Typically there are 7 clinics a week, with registration links going live at the start of each semester. Clinics are not offered during summer or intersession.

What to know:

Clinics must be registered for in advance of attendance and are first-come, first-served. They are 75-minute long sessions in which students will receive brief instruction about the library, helpful places to begin their search, and expectations for their time during the session.  Following instruction, librarians will sit down one-on-one with each student to personalize research strategies for their particular topic. During the remaining time, students will work individually on their project.

Students must bring a research assignment to work on. Ideally, the assignment will still be in the beginning stages. We’ve found it works best when instructors assign a 1-2 week window before their assignment is due.

At the end of the clinic, students will receive an exit ticket as proof of attendance.

If no clinics are available during a time convenient for the student, make-up options include taking an online tutorial or scheduling a short one-on-one makeup session with a librarian. Make-ups are only available during the same time frame in which the clinics run, and will not be offered after the 11th week.
