UNM Main Campus has three libraries, each housing material related to areas of study:
- Zimmerman Library is the largest and houses:
- History, philosophy, political science, education, business & economics, language & literature, theses & dissertations, government documents, and more
- The Center for Southwest Research & Special Collections
- Centennial Science & Engineering Library is the next largest and houses:
- Psychology, sciences, agriculture, and engineering
- Fine Arts & Design Library is the next largest and houses:
- Dance, music (including scores), fine arts, architecture, photography, film, and gardening
Within each library, there are collections of similar items:
- Books, Periodicals (also known as Journals), Oversize, and Reserves are examples
- Each type of item has its own section
To find a specific item, use the catalog (also known as Catalog Search) to determine:
- Location (which library houses the item)
- Call number (the book's location on the shelf)
- We use the Library of Congress classification scheme (Wikipedia entry)
- Availability
