It depends on your UNM status and the type of material. In general:

  • Undergraduate students and community borrowers: 2 renewals
  • Graduate students, University Honors students, faculty, and staff: 6 renewals

For a complete listing, including various material types, check out Borrowing Information & Loan Periods.

To renew your items online go to https://library.unm.edu/ and scroll to click the blue Renew Books button. Or follow this link to log into your account

NOTE: Print materials MUST be returned once the renewal limit has been reached. After check-in processes have been completed, the material will be available for check out again.

If you have reached your maximum renewal limit and you need to continue to use the item(s), you can make an appointment to have the item(s) processed with a billing team member through Ask A Librarian. This will refresh your renewal count.

Setting up an appointment with us ensures that a team member is available to work with you and that you can leave with your items in the same visit. If you do drop in with the items, it will be a 1-2 business day turnaround for us to process them.
