The current issue of an electronic journal may be restricted for a variety of reasons:

  • Publisher's embargo (deliberately not published electronically for a specified amount of time)
  • Perpetual access to back issues is not necessarily available even though there is a current subscription
  • Issue not printed or electronically uploaded by journal or publisher on time
  • Link to issue or database not working

To get an article from a current issue of a particular journal:

  • Search for the current issue in print format
    • Start at
    • Select the Journals tab on the left
    • Enter the name of the journal
    • Click on the first option
    • In the right-side pop-up pane, scroll down until you see Print Copies at Your Library
  • Go to Interlibrary Loan page to request an electronic copy
