There are a few ways you can find journal articles.

From the library's homepage:

  • Click the "Articles Only" button on the lefthand side of the page
  • Enter your search terms into the box and click "Search"
  • The search results will automatically be narrowed to only items that are peer reviewed and available in the library's collection
    • You can adjust these and other filters by clicking the "All filters" button under the search box at the top of the page

You can also search directly in one of the library's databases. To find a database in your field of study:

  • Start at library.unm.edu
  • Click the "Databases" button on the lefthand side of the page
  • Use the "By Subject" or "By Type" dropdown menus for lists of databases in your field
  • Search individual databases using keywords; we recommend using Boolean searching techniques to refine your searches.

Databases are a gold mine of journal articles, and often link to related articles and citations! Not sure which databases to use? Check out our research guides to see the best bets for your topic.

If you locate an article or citation that is not owned in full text by the UNM Libraries, you can request a copy through Interlibrary Loan and Library Express. Non-UNM patrons can access online subscription databases through the New Mexico State Library service El Portal.

Once you find one good journal article, use that article's bibliography to find more!
