Q. Can I use the library if I am a community researcher, not a currently-enrolled UNM student?

Yes!

You'll need a valid photo ID to enter the libraries on campus. You can see more info on our turnstile procedures FAQ.

You can use library spaces and materials while on site. With the purchase of a Community Borrowers Card (CBC), you can also borrow books and other select materials. Please see the page Help for Visitors & Community Borrowers for more information and details.

When on campus, you can access our electronic resources with your own laptop or for one hour on our Community Computers. Here are links to several of our collections:

• Access to the UNM Library Catalog

• Access to the Center for Southwest Research and Special Collections

• Access to the Map & Geographic Information Center (MAGIC) is available by appointment

When off campus or from home, you can search El Portal, a collection of databases provided by the New Mexico State Library.
